Dunfermline based Scottish Bakers took delivery today of some 850 of the nations' favourite morning rolls, scones, individual cakes, savouries, biscuits, breads and new category, celebration cakes, for judging.
Local business, Yester Farm Dairies based at Gifford, East Lothian has seen three of its staff successfully complete their SVQ Level 2 (SCQF Level 5) in Dairy Skills as part of a training programme supported by Skills Development Scotland in conjunction with Scottish Bakers.

Food Standards Scotland would like to make you aware that the European Commission has published Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/213 on the use of Bisphenol A in varnishes and coatings intended to come into contact with food and amending Regulation (EU) No 10/2011. The new Regulation will apply from 6 September 2018.

The Health & Safety Executive has written to Scottish Bakers to give advance notice of an inspection programme in the food manufacturing industry in Scotland.
The programme of targeted inspections will review health and safety standards in food manufacturing businesses across the country before the end of March. The HSE plan to visit around 120 premises of all types including bakeries.

Alasdair comes with experience in skills and education, lifelong learning and the media sector. He was Scotland Director of Creative Skillset (the sector skills council). Before then, he spent 9 years with SQA & SCOTVEC and brings a wealth of experience in bringing industry together in partnership with further and higher education institutions in Scotland as well as having established links with SQA, SDS, the Scottish Funding Council and Scottish Government.
