National Food and Drink Training, the training arm of Scottish Bakers, today (Friday 3 April 2020) announced that it is to suspend all apprenticeship training provision across the UK.

Chief Executive, Alasdair Smith, said, “It is important that we all do what we can to help minimise the spread of the Coronavirus and we appreciate that training is not a current priority for the many businesses in which we deliver apprenticeships around the UK.

“While we have adapted quickly and are able to conduct a range of training-related activities through various online platforms, we believe it is best to leave our learners doing what they do best at this difficult time – helping to keep great freshly baked bread, savoury snacks and sweet treats on shops’ shelves and customers’ tables.”

NFDT Training and Quality Manager, Scott Anderson, added, “I would like to take this opportunity to applaud the team for their monumental efforts in continuing to deliver despite the challenges of being increasingly unable to meet with candidates face to face as the crisis progressed.

“This suspension of services is a temporary measure and the team will be back delivering training once we resume some sort of normality.”

For any training enquiries during this suspension of service please contact Scott Anderson.
