|Scottish Baker of the Year|
The search is on for Scottish Baker of the Year 2019/20
Current champions Brownings the Bakers hosted the official launch of the competition on Wednesday 6 March 2019. Brownings Managing Director, John Gall, and couture cake queen Mich Turner MBE, the Scottish Bakers ambassador, marked the start of the competition by challenging youngsters from Galston Primary School and Onthank Primary School to take part in a ‘Generation Game’ style bake-off decoration competition.
Head judge and industry veteran Robert Ross was on hand to ensure fair play and to assess the contestant’s efforts and determine if they look good enough to eat.
Thousands upon thousands of pies, scones, loaves, savoury items, morning rolls, individual cakes and biscuits are sold in Scotland every day, and our baker members work hard to keep us all going. This competition, now in its eighth year, not only gives Scottish bakers the chance to shine and showcase their skills but encourages the buying public to revisit and rediscover their local bakery.
Judging day will be 17th April at Carnegie Conference Centre, Halbeath Road, Dunfermline, KY11 8DY
The winner will be announced at a glittering Gala dinner held at Scottish Bakers Annual Conference at the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on Saturday 8th May 2019.
