|Allergens Labelling Survey|
Allergen Labelling Regulations are changing. Prompted by the tragic death of a food allergic teenager in 2016, the UK government and all devolved administrations agreed to introduce legislation that would mandate the name of the food and full ingredient listing on labels of all Pre-Packed for Direct Sale (PPDS) foods.
In Scotland, this legislation is expected to become law in Autumn 2021. Scottish Bakers is working with Food Standards Scotland to ensure the views of businesses are taken into consideration during the development phase – this is expected to run through until Summer 2020, with draft legislation prepared in the second half of the year.
This short questionnaire is intended to gauge our members current knowledge, awareness and practice relating to allergens labelling as it relates to PPDS foods. Your input and co-operation will be appreciated and all responses are anonymous.
The new legislation will require full product and ingredients labelling on all food packed before being offered for sale by the same food business to the final consumer: on the same premises; on the same site, or, on other premises if the food is offered for sale from moveable or temporary premises (eg marquee, mobile vehicle, market stall).
